A Guide to Install a Concrete Floor

Installing a Concrete Floor inside your home, garage, or walkway requires hard work. Some hire excellent professionals like fort worth concrete, but if you don’t have the money and you have time at your disposal, then you can install the concrete floor yourself.

Here is the simple and easy guide to install a concrete floor by removing the old floor, preparing the base and mixing and pouring the concrete.

Concrete Floor

Step 1. Preparing and Measuring the Site

The first thing to do about installing the concrete floor is removing all objects from the indicated area; it can be old floorboards, stones, rocks, and things. If you are indoors and if there are old floorboards, get a prybar and remove all the boards one by one. After removing the boards, you can use a chalk and measure the height of your floor, mark one for the first layer of soil and one for the overall height.

If you are making a concrete floor outside, and the indicated area is sloping, make sure to compensate the sloping by adding or subtracting soil from it; a concrete floor is more solid if it has a flat base. Get a stick or a piece of wood and place it in the four corners of the floor, then measure the desired height of the concrete and then attach strings to all corners to indicate it; also mark one for the first layer and one for the overall height.

Step 2. Strengthening the Soil

The strength of your concrete floor can largely depend on the firmness of the soil underneath it. Stones and Sandy soil are preferable as the soil underneath; pour stones evenly on the ground and fill it with sandy soil up to the level of the first layer. Get a rammer and compact the stones and sand, then get a shovel and do a circular motion to level it.

Step 3. Putting the Base

If you are indoors, use an insulation foam and cut sections of it and make a fit of it across the floor. The insulation foam will serve as a base and a guide as to the height and form of your concrete floor.

If you are outdoors, you can mimic the style above, but instead, you have to use slabs of wood. Cut the Slabs according to the measurement of the square and support it by installing stakes on the inside part of the square; this ensures that the slabs won’t collapse and would remain straight. You can also use steel bars to reinforce it and also support base from the outside.

Step 4. Pouring the Concrete

After mixing the concrete, pour the concrete inside our base. After our base has been filled, get a straight plank and use it to level our floor, do this more than once. To finish it off, use a plastering trowel to smooth out sharp edges, leave it to dry for about two to three days.

To avoid the concrete to crack or curl, you have to add a thin top surface. To do this, place furring strips about a meter apart and fill it with concrete, remove the furring strips and fill the gaps. Smooth the top layer with a float, leave the pavement for another 2 to 3 days and you are done.

In this article, you will be able to learn some of the many health benefits of having your carpet professionally cleaned and maintained in a regular manner.

Eliminates Trapped Pollutants

Your carpet can act like a trap. It can keep allergens such as dust indoor and chances are that it will spread and affect the air that you and your employees breathe. According to experts, a dirty carpeting can retain a lot of air pollutants that come from every day dirt and dust  to pet dander particle pollution.
